Warehouse floor workflows

Mobile barcode scanning for receiving, picking, and cycle counts

Storely's documented warehouse floor workflows use a phone browser and camera to scan barcodes. Existing keyboard-wedge hardware scanners can also enter barcode values into the active field.

Pre-launch. Storely is preparing for production launch. Discuss availability and requirements with us before planning a rollout. Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, and eBay integrations are planned and are not live yet.

Use a phone browser on the warehouse floor

Storely is a web application. The mobile guide describes dedicated Receive, Pick, and Cycle Count screens with large text and one item at a time. Staff can open their Storely URL, sign in, and use the camera scanner in the relevant workflow.

On iPhone, the documented home-screen shortcut uses Safari's Share menu and Add to Home Screen. On Android, it uses Chrome's menu and Add to Home Screen. Read the mobile setup guide for details.

Match a scan to a product

Add the product's barcode when creating or importing its catalog record. A scan needs a matching barcode in Storely; otherwise the receiving and picking workflows fall back to manual lookup. Client context keeps the warehouse workflow associated with the right client's goods.

Three documented floor workflows

  • Receiving: scan incoming products, confirm quantities, and review the shipment before finalizing. See receiving in depth.
  • Picking: open a wave's mobile pick screen to see the bin location, product, SKU, and quantity. Scan the carton barcode or confirm manually. See orders and fulfillment.
  • Cycle counting: use the floor workflow to count stock as part of the warehouse's routine. See daily operations.

Can I keep my Zebra or Honeywell scanner?

The documented workflow supports hardware scanners operating in keyboard-wedge mode, including compatible Zebra and Honeywell devices. In this mode, the scanner types a barcode into the active input. Confirm the device's configuration and focus before scanning. This is different from a dedicated native integration with every scanner model.

Evaluate scanning in your actual warehouse conditions

  • Devices: test the phones, browsers, and hardware scanner models your staff will use.
  • Camera access: allow the browser to use the camera for the scanner workflow.
  • Lighting and labels: try typical barcode sizes, print quality, glare, and working distances. The guide suggests good lighting and about 20–30 cm as a starting point.
  • Catalog records: confirm barcode values are present and match your test labels.
  • Connectivity: evaluate your warehouse Wi-Fi and the working areas where staff receive, pick, and count.

Device compatibility and real floor conditions should be part of pilot evaluation. Storely is pre-launch; this page describes the documented workflow and does not claim every phone or scanner has been validated.

Which planned plan includes scanning?

Camera and hardware scanning are listed in Basic and Pro. Planned Basic pricing is $399 per month for one warehouse and up to 250 clients; Pro is $1,599 per month for two warehouses and up to 1,000 clients. Both list unlimited warehouse users and orders. See planned pricing and the 3PL WMS overview for the rest of the warehouse workflow.
